3.7" Twinned Selenite Crystals (Fluorescent) - Red River Floodway
This is a classic Canadian mineral specimen from the Red River Floodway deposits in Manitoba, Canada. It's a selenite ball covered in gemmy, pale yellow, selenite crystals. The entire piece measures 3.7" wide. The crystals are highly fluorescent under short wave UV, and emits phosphorescent light that remains several seconds after the UV light is turned off.
These crystals rare crystals are unique to the locality and are formed in the underground claw when water carrying selenite evaporates under certain conditions. Every crystal is unique, just like a snowflake. Typically these crystals are found 3-6 meters underground requiring substantial excavation work.
