This is a polished nickeloan magnesite (citron/lemon chrysoprase) egg, collected from the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia. Nickeloan magnesite is a nickel-rich variety of magnesite which has an unusual yellow-green color. This specimen measures 3.3" tall.

Magnesite is a magnesium carbonate mineral and a primary source of magnesium. It's a member of the calcite group of carbonate minerals, typically displaying a chalky white color, however it can also be gray, brown, yellow, orange, pale pink, or colorless. Magnesite is used in many ways, including use as a refractory material, as a catalyst, a filler in the production of synthetic rubber, and in the preparation of magnesium chemicals and fertilizers.
