This is an absolutely massive cluster of beautiful smoky quartz crystals from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The crystals have smoky coloration, with phantoms visible within the largest crystal. The terminations, facets, and faces are all natural and have not been cut or polished. Horizontal striations run up the faces of each crystal, resulting in a stepped appearance, with the crystals tapering as they approach their terminations. The cluster weighs 19.5 lbs and sits upright nicely on a flat surface, allowing for aesthetic presentation without the need for a display stand.

Smoky quartz is a grey-brown to black variety of quartz. This common name is derived from the appearance of smoke within the quartz crystal. Depending on the location and the chemicals present during formation, smoky quartz can appear opaque black, but it is typically translucent to some extent. It is believed that the quartz gains this color from a combination of natural irradiation and aluminum impurities.
