This is a breathtaking, 2.9" wide "golden amphibolite" sphere, collected from Abydos in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The golden inclusions within this specimen are likely grunerite that has been largely altered to hematite and goethite within quartz.

Golden amphibolite, also known as bronzite, is a member of the pyroxene group of minerals that has a bronzy metallic luster when polished that can look similar to tiger's eye. It can be found all over the world, including the United States, Austria, England, South Africa, India, Norway, and Greenland. It is found in mafic to ultramafic igneous rocks, and has also been discovered in meteorites!
