2.8" Vibrant Blue, Cyanotrichite with Cubic Fluorite - China
These are beautiful, vibrant blue cyanotrichite tufts that formed in association with cubic fluorite crystals, collected from the Qinglong Mine in the Guizhou Province of China. The fluorite and cyanotrichite formed over an interesting pseudomorph, creating this unique display. It has been mounted to an acrylic display base with glue.
Cyanotrichite is a hydrous copper aluminum sulfate with the chemical formula Cu4Al2SO4(OH)12 · 2H2O. It is a secondary mineral in copper oxidation zones and is primarily found as spherical aggregates of blue, radiating acicular crystals. Due to the fragility of cyanotrichite crystals, we suggest that specimens be placed in a safe location and handled carefully.
