2.7" Muscovite var. Fuchsite with Quartz - Norway
Here is a beautiful cluster of thin muscovite var. fuchsite crystals associated with quartz, collected from Norway. The specimen is just over 2.7" wide and displays a lustrous, vibrant green coloration. This specimen is accompanied with an acrylic display case.
Muscovite is a phyllosilicate mineral of aluminium and potassium. It has a highly perfect basal cleavage yielding remarkably thin laminae which are often highly elastic. The reason for the green color to the muscovite (fuchsite) is due to chromium's replacement of aluminum atoms in the general muscovite formula.
