1" Twinned Selenite Crystals (Fluorescent) - Red River Floodway
This is a classic Canadian mineral specimen from the Red River Floodway deposits in Manitoba, Canada. It's a selenite ball covered in gemmy, pale-yellow selenite crystals. The entire piece measures 1" wide and the crystals are highly fluorescent under short wave UV. The specimen continues to emits phosphorescent light that remains a couple seconds after the UV light is turned off.
These rare crystals are unique to the locality and are formed in the underground claw when water carrying selenite evaporates under certain conditions. Every crystal is unique, just like a snowflake. Typically these crystals are found 3-6 meters underground requiring substantial excavation work.
