1.8" Natural Honey-Opal Specimen - Tanzania

This is a natural honey-opal specimen collected near Tanganyika Lake in the Kasulu District of Tanzania.

The specimen is accompanied by a small acrylic display case.

Honey opal is the name given to a translucent to transparent, honey-gold to light brown color of common opal. While not as sought after as black, fire, or other precious opals, it is still a beautiful choice for collectors and jewelers. Honey opal gets its coloration from iron impurities, and the mineraloid can sometimes contain black dendrites suspended within.
