1.77" Cleaved Fluorite Octahedron - Illinois
This is a large, cleaved fluorite octahedron collected from Hardin County, Illinois. It transitions form purple on one tip to a light yellow to blue at the other end.
Miners used to cleave these octahedrons out of the high-grade fluorite in the mines. They were common in the 50's and 60's when the mines were operating in full swing, but are very hard to find acquire anymore.
