1.6" Vibrant Blue, Cyanotrichite Crystal Aggregates - China
This is a vibrant blue formation of cyanotrichite that was collected from the Qinglong Mine in the Guizhou Province of China. Small fluorite crystals can be found peppered across the druzy quartz encrusted matrix. It has been mounted to an acrylic display base with glue.
Cyanotrichite is a hydrous copper aluminum sulfate with the chemical formula Cu4Al2SO4(OH)12 · 2H2O. It is a secondary mineral in copper oxidation zones and is primarily found as spherical aggregates of blue, radiating acicular crystals. Due to the fragility of cyanotrichite crystals, we suggest that specimens be placed in a safe location and handled carefully.
