1.5" Blue Botryoidal Shattuckite Specimen - Namibia

This is a beautiful, 1.5" wide formation of light blue to dark blue, botryoidal (shape) shattuckite that was collected from Namibia. The matrix also contains small acicular crystals that have been labelled as rutile on the market, however we cannot confirm this identification. It has been mounted to an acrylic display base with mineral tack.

Shattuckite is a scarce copper mineral highly regarded for its vivid blue color. It is named after the Shattuck Mine in Bisbee, Arizona, where this mineral was first discovered. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic–dipyramidal crystal system and usually occurs in a granular massive form or as fibrous acicular crystals.
