1.2" Vibrant Iridescent Goethite Stalactite Formation - Spain

This attractive specimen exhibits bright pink-magenta and yellow-gold iridescence over the majority of the goethite's surface. This stalactite formation presents in exceptionally bubbly botryoidal formations. It was collected from the Filón Sur open pit in Andalusia, Spain.

It has been mounted to an acrylic display base.

Known since ancient times, goethite is a beautiful dark gray to black iron-based mineral that can take many forms. It was used in antiquity as a pigment for painting and has even been found in the famous caves at Lascaux, France.
