Stunning 11.1" Choffaticeras ("Daisy Flower") Ammonite

This is a large example of a rarely seen ammonite from Madagascar. It is of the genus Choffaticeras, 11.1" wide and quite thick, weighing about 8 1/2 lbs. Ammonites of this genus are often referred to as Margarite or "Daisy" flower ammonites. It has been cut in half and polished to reveal the amazing inner detail. Many of the chambers have been preserved as deep, spectacular CRYSTAL LINED pockets. This is an extremely aesthetic and displayable ammonite fossil. Like almost all of these large ammonites there is some repair work, as they are almost always broken while in the ground.
