Spiny Enrolled Drotops Armatus Trilobite (Reduced Price!)

This is a nicely preserved and prepared example of the super spiny phacopid trilobite, Drotops armatus. It has been preserved enrolled in a defensive position and would have made for a very unappetizing dinner for it's predators. It's presented on a beautifully sculpted, free-standing pedestal of matrix.

It is quite large and would have been over 4 inches in length if outstretched. The preservation is amazing, just check out the detail in the eye facets. Preparing a Drotops armatus to this level of quality can only be done by the a few select preparators and takes over 50 hours of work. While many of the spines have been repaired (reattached) and there are some repaired cracks there is no significant restoration, unlike many specimens.
