Red Fossil Coral Pendant - 20 Million Years Old

This is a pendant made from agatized, fossil coral from Sumatra, Indonesia. The polishing allows the beautiful, fossilized structure of the coral heads to easily be seen.

These corals are approximately 20 million years old and are the remnants of ancient reefs thrust up into the mountains by the collisions of techonic plates. As these corals fossilized the original organic material was replaced by silica, iron, manganese and other minerals
