Rare Rooted Leptoceratops Tooth - Montana

Leptoceratops teeth are pretty hard to find in the Hell Creek Formation but nice rooted ones like this specimen are rare finds. It is from a Leptoceratops gracilis, the only Protoceratops found in North America. It was collected from private land in Powder River County, Montana.

The tooth is .66" long and is great shape with just natural feeding wear to the crown. It comes in an acrylic case.

Leptoceratops was a small, primitive genus of ceratopsian dinosaur who's name literally means "small-horn face" despite the fact it did not have any horns. It reached lengths of about 2 meters and is believed to be bipedal, meaning it could run on it's back legs. As with other ceratopsians it has a parrot-like beak and was probably able to chew very tough vegetation.
