Rare, 1.1" Theropod Dinosaur Vertebra - Isle of Wight, England
This is a rare, 1.1" long vertebra of a Lower Cretaceous age Theropod dinosaur. It was collected from the Wealden Clays of the Wessex Formation on the Isle of Wight. Only the centrum and part of the neural canal survived weathering, but the bone is in excellent condition with very little restoration. A nice collector specimen.
There are several theropod dinosaurs that have been discovered from this formation, so accurately identifying an isolated vertebra like this down to the genus is difficult.
