Rare, 1.8" Scaphites Heteromorph Ammonite - Kansas
This is a beautifully preserved Scaphites carlilensis ammonite from the Upper Cretaceous of Osborne County, Kansas. These ammonites are found inside of hard concretions (nodules) which are broken open to reveal them. In this case the concretion has been mostly prepped away from the ammonite.
There are repaired cracks through this ammonite where the nodule split during collection.
