Otodus Obliquus Fossil Shark Tooth - Maryland

While larger Otodus obliquus teeth are commonly seen from Morocco, they are not commonly seen from the United States. This tooth of the extinct giant mackerel shark Otodus comes from the Aquia Formation near the Potomac River in Maryland. The Otodus teeth from here do not reach sizes anywhere near the ones found in Morocco, so this tooth at under an inch is probably about average size.
