Nice 3.10" Auriculatus Tooth - Dakhla, Morocco
This is a nice 3.10" long tooth of the mega-toothed shark, Carcharocles auriculatus. It is believed Carcharocles auriculatus was closely related to the Megalodon but lived nearly 10-20 million years earlier.
This tooth was collected from the Late Eocene aged deposits of the Western Sahara Desert in Morocco. It has wonderful preservation with sharp serrations, fine enamel and a good root. While it's missing the left cusp, it's very difficult to find these teeth complete and nearly all of them are restored (this one is not). A beautiful tooth. Comes with the pictured display stand.
