11.7" Cretaceous Fossil Fish (Paleobalistum) - Lebanon
This is a huge, 11.7" long, Cretaceous, Pycnodont fish (Paleobalistum). It was quarried from the famous marine lagerstätte near Hakel, Lebanon. This is one of the rarer fish in the formation, with this being a large example of this genus. The crushing teeth are very nicely preserved in this example.
The limestone slab measures 16.4 x 11.75" and is up to 1.5" thick. There are several repaired cracks through this rock where it broke during collection. There is no significant restoration of this specimen, however some of the cracks did require minor gap fill restoration.
Comes with a metal display stand.
