Clearance Lot: Tumbled Agatized Fossil Coral From Florida - 1 LB
This is a 1 lb wholesale lot of tumbled fossil coral, collected from the Basin Deposits of Florida. You will receive the exact lot of stones pictured.
These stones are perfect for gifts, educational programs, or for resale.
This fossil coral is Miocene (25-32 million years) in age, and was formed when fine sediments covered shallow coral reefs. As silica-rich groundwater seeped through rock that became exposed as sea levels dropped, it replaced the calcium carbonate skeleton of the coral with chalcedony. While exact identification is difficult to pinpoint, this specimen exhibits structures consistent with rugose coral.
