Lot: Fossil Seed Cones (Or Aggregate Fruits) - 20 Pieces

This is a bargain lot of 20 fossilized seed cones from Boujdour, Morocco. They range from about 1.2 to 2.2" in length and you will receive the exact lot pictured.

These Eocene aged fossils from found in the Sahara Desert West of Boujdour, Morocco have traditionally been considered fossil seed (pine) cones. New research which has yet to be published theorizes that they are in fact fossils of aggregate fruits. Many of them show heavy damage due to insect feeding which would have been unlikely to occur with seed cones, and more more likely to occur with fruits. Either way these silica replaced (agatized) fossils are really cool.
