Large Morocconites Malladoides Trilobite
Here is one of the more unusual species of trilobites, a Morocconites malladoides from the Devonian of Morocco. It's a member of the Phacopida trilobites and has a very defining feature, a long pointed rostrum (snout) coming off of it's head. It's unclear what purpose this rostrum would have served, but it could have potentially been used to help it dig through the mud.
This particular specimen is quite large for the species and would be around 3 1/4 inches it outstretched. It's very 3D and has a beautiful black shell. There is about 2% restoration on the trilobite, including the first two pleural tips on the right hand side and some touchups of air scribe dings in it's head.
