Large Huntonia Tail With Healed Bite Mark - Black Cat Mountain

This is a very interesting piece. It is a large Huntonia trilobite tail with has a healed bite mark on the lower/right edge. Evidently the trilobite survived this predatory attack long enough for the shell to be begin to heal. The tail itself is 2.6" wide so it would have come from a trilobite around 5" long.

The Black Cat Mountain Quarry produces a limited number of arguably the most beautiful trilobites in the United States each year.
