Large Fossil Tuna Vertebrae - Aurora, North Carolina
This is a large fossil tuna (Thunnus sp.) collected from the PCS mine near Aurora, NC. It could be from any of the three formation Pungo River, Yorktown, and James City Formations exposed at the time, so it would be Miocene or Pliocene in age.
