Fossil Chesapecten, Whale Bone & Clams - Virginia
These are giant fossil Pectin (Chesapecten) collected from the Yorktown Formation in Virginia. It's covered in various fossil shell pieces and is still partially embedded in the sandstone in which it was found. The cluster is massive at 8.9" wide by 7.1" tall. This cluster clings to a large unidentified bone. This specimen displays nicely without the use of a stand.
