Large, 3.3" Stalk-Eyed Asaphus Kowalewskii Trilobite - Russia

This is a 3.3" long (including eye stalks), stalk-eyed trilobite Asaphus kowalewskii. It is Middle Ordovician in age and was collected at the Vilpovitsy quarry in the St. Petersburg region of Russia. The stalk eyes likely allowed to survey it's surroundings while remaining buried in the mud.

At over 3" long this specimen is very large for the species and it's a nice specimen. It's laid out nice and prone with minimal restoration. There is some restoration to the left eye stalk and the head near the right eye stalk.
