Jaw Dropping "Flying" Leonaspis Trilobite

Here is another one of those trilobites that just makes your jaw drop. It's a very spiny, Leonaspis quarried near Foum Zguid, Morocco. It has been prepared so that all of the matrix surrounding it has been removed, leaving it "flying" above the rock. Only the finest trilobite preparators in the world can do this work, and it requires dozens and dozens of hours of work with air abrasives microscope to accomplish it.

All of the details of the trilobite are amazingly preserved including the tiny stalk eyes, the occipital spine and the tiny nodes on it's shell, features that often are not preserved in lower quality specimens. There is no restoration on this specimen.
