Impressive Cyphaspis Trilobite Cluster - Mrakib, Morocco
This is a spectacular cluster of trilobites from the Bou Dib Formation near Mrakib, Morocco. There are ten complete Cyphaspis walteri and two Gerastos trilobites on the piece. Some of the individuals have been preserved dorsally while others are ventral. It has been expertly prepared to free the trilobites from the their limestone tomb. The horns on some of the Cyphaspis have been prepared free-standing.
This species of Cyphaspis is sometimes referred to as the "Devil Horn" Cyphaspis for obvious reasons. This species was finally formally described in 2014. A link to the paper can be found below.
