Huge 9.4" Priscacara Serrata Fossil Fish - 18 Inch Layer

This is a huge, 9.4" long Priscacara serrata from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This is one of the more uncommon fish found in the quarries. It comes from the famous 18 inch layer which produces very dark colored fish fossils. The fossils from this layer split out under the surface of the rock, typically with just raised lumps from the vertebra providing a clue to the fossil's location. Preparation via mechanical tools is rather time consuming.

The fish is nicely centered on a 14.6" by 10.8" slab of shale. It comes with a display stand. We can add a wood backing and install mounting hardware at no additional cost upon request.
