Huge, 8.9" Fossil Whale Vertebrae - Yorktown Formation

This is a huge fossil Whale caudal (tail) vertebrae from the Yorktown Formation in North Carolina. It was collected at the PCS Mine which has been off limit now to collectors for some time. It would be approximately 2.5 to 5 million years old.

The vertebrae is quite large at 8.9" wide and weighs 6 pounds.
