Huge 4.8" Clypeaster Urchin Fossil - Taza, Morocco
This is a huge, and very 3D fossil Echinoid of the genus Clypeaster collected near Taza, Morocco. It's Miocene in age, remarkably detailed, 4.8" wide and 2.7" tall! These are fairly rare to find complete and in as good of shape as this specimen.
Animals of the Clypeaster genus are more commonly referred to as "sea biscuits or cake urchins. The genus first appeared in the Late Eocene and survives until today.
