Huge 3.76" Delocare (Saharops) Trilobite
At 3.76" long this is a very large specimen of the rare trilobite Delocare (Saharops) bensaidi. It was quarried near Bou Lachrhal, Morocco. It's extremely 3D, and the eye facets can clearly be seen in both eyes.
Note: This specimen was acquired as part of a collection we recently acquired. We examined it using UV, microscope and using solvents to check for restoration. There is some patches of shell restoration in particular where the crack runs though the rock and trilobite, above the tail. Many of the small free-standing spines also appear to have been restored. It's a gorgeous looking specimen though and the price is marked down based on the restoration work on the specimen.
