Huge 1.75" Kettneraspis Trilobite - Lghaft, Morocco
This is a huge specimen of Kettneraspis quarried at Lghaft, Morocco. It has a large, and very distinctive occipital spine. These trilobites have typically been labeled as Leonaspis but based on more recent papers it appears to be Kettneraspis? prescheri.
The specimen has it's tail tucked and the long spines have been prepared flying free of the matrix. Great preparation work on this specimen! The base the trilobite is resting on is 5 1/2"x 2 1/2".
A recent description of this trilobite can be found at:
Description of Kettneraspis? prescheri sp. nov. (Trilobita, Odontopleuridae) from the “couche rouge” (Pragian, Lower Devonian) in Morocco
