Gorgeous 1.38" Kainops Trilobite - Oklahoma
This is a beautiful, caramel colored, perfectly prone, 1.38" long Kainops raymondi from the famous Black Cat Mountain quarry near Clarita, Oklahoma. It's averaged sized for the species and laid out perfectly prone unlike most of these trilobites which are partially enrolled. It has great eye facet preservation and displays well on the sculpted block of limestone matrix.
The Black Cat Mountain Quarry produces a limited number of arguably the most beautiful trilobites in the United States each year. Each specimen is meticulously prepared by quarry owner Bob Carroll under microscope to expose the smallest details. This is a very time consuming process, taking many hours, but yields spectacular results.
