Detailed Fossil Pseudoscorpion (Pseudoscorpiones) in Chiapas Amber

This is a small fossil pseudoscorpion (order Pseudoscorpiones) preserved in Chiapas amber. This detailed inclusion measures about 1mm across in a 15 x 10 x 6mm piece of amber.

As a reminder, most inclusions in Chiapas amber are extremely small so magnification will be needed to make out much detail. Included with your order is a physical photo of the specimen.

Amber is fossilized tree resin that sometimes contains inclusions such as plant matter, fungi, and insects. This amber comes from mines in Chiapas, Mexico, and was formed during the Early/Middle Miocene (15-23 million years ago). The amber was produced by either the two extinct leguminous trees Hymenaea mexicana or Hymenaea allendis, both of which were initially described from fossil flowers included in Mexican amber.
