Composite Fossil Theropod Toe
This is a composite finger from a theropod dinosaur. It is 5.0" total length with a 1.7" first, 1.4" second, .85" third, 1.3" fourth phalanges and a 1.6" ungual (claw). This specimen is a composite meaning it is made up of pieces that are not necessarily from the same finger or even the same animal. In this case, phalanges 1-4 are real fossil bones. The ungual is a cast resin copy of an unrelated bone. This is likely the IV digit.
