Bargain, 8.3" Phareodus Fish Fossil - Uncommon Fish

This is a bargain, 8.3" long example of one of the more uncommon fossil fish found in the Green River Formation. It is a Phareodus from Warfield's Quarry near Kemmerer. There is a section missing on the top edge, that was close the the chisel driven into the rock, thus was fractured during collection. There is also one repaired crack through the rock.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.

If you look closely you can see how Phareodus has a mouthful of sharp pointy teeth making is a voracious lake predator. In fact the name Phareodus actually means "to have tooth" Spines from other fish such as Mioplosus and Priscacara have frequently been found preserved in it's stomach.
