Baby .86" Tyrannosaur Tooth - Montana
This is a small, but well preserved .86" Tyrannosaur tooth from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group) of Montana. This formation is approximately 70 million years old, or about 5 million years old than the Hell Creek Formation which produces T-Rex.
Given the size this would have come from a small juvenile or baby of the Tyrannosaur species. Many people might label it a Dromaeosaur (Raptor) due to the small tooth size, but both the anterior and posterior serrations are the same size, where in Dromaeosaur teeth they tend to be different sizes.
Comes in an acrylic display case.
There are three described Tyrannosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group), Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three Tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genre because they are so similar.
