Authentic Gerastos Trilobite Fossil Pendant

This is a cool pendant made from a real Gerastos granulosus trilobite fossil. The trilobite is fossil is very detailed, 3D and has been prepared from it's limestone tomb using air abrasives. The rock matrix underneath it has been ground down to be pendant size and a ring has been cemented in place.

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet with over 25k described species, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to a hard exoskeleton (shell), they left a excellent fossil record.

Gerastos granulosus is a small, common proetid trilobite. This particular specimen was quarried near Jbel Issoumour, Morocco and is Middle Devonian in age (~350 million years old). Once found the limestone around them still must be remove which is time consuming and tedious process.
