Agaricocrinus & Scytalocrinus Crinoid Association - Indiana
This is a very aesthetic association of two types of crinoids from the famous Witherspoon crinoid quarry near Crawfordsville, Indiana There is a Agaricocrinus americanus along side a Scytalocrinus decadactylus on a 4.2" wide piece of limestone. It has been painstakingly prepared under microscope using air abrasives.
It is believed that crinoids from the Ramp Creek Limestone were buried in sediment from nearby deltas during storms. The resulting siltstone deposits are soft enough that fossils can be extracted in exquisite, three-dimensional relief.
