.95" Pathological Otodus Shark Tooth - Morocco

This is a very interesting fossil! It's a pathalogical, .95" long Otodus obliquus with a growth abnormality. The tip of the tooth has an unusual twist to it, leaving it with a deformed presentation.

Otodus is an extinct, giant mackerel shark that lived during the Eocene, approximately 54 million years ago. These teeth are collected during the massive phosphate mining operations in the Oulad Abdoun Basin of Morocco. While teeth of Otodus are very common fossils at the mines, large, good quality specimens are hard to find as they are often destroyed by the mining equipment.
