.9" Fossil Synapsid (Lupeosaurus) Vertebra - Texas

This is a .9" long, fossil vertebra of Lupeosaurus kayi, an extinct species of pelycosaurian synapsids that lived approximately 295 million years ago. It was collected from the Permian-aged Moran Formation of Texas. Lepeosaurus could reach lengths of nearly 10 feet long and weighed almost 400 pounds as an adult.
