.9" Fossil Permian Eel-Like Amphibian (Archeria) Vertebra - Texas

This is a .9" tall vertebra of Archeria crassidiscus from the Pennsylvanian-aged deposits of the Nocona Formation (formerly lower-upper Admiral Formation) of Texas.

Archeria was an eel-like embolomerous amphibian that could exceed 5 feet in length and weighed around 80 pounds. Nearly all known specimens are the same size, suggesting very fast development to early adulthood and very slow growth thereafter.
