9.7" Polished Petrified Palmwood (Palmoxylon) Round
This is a beautiful, 9.7" wide round of petrified palm wood (Palmoxylon) which has been polished to a glossy finish on both sides. This comes out of an extensive petrified wood collection we recently purchased a portion of. Unfortunately the locality information on this piece was lost. The coloration most closely resembles the the palm wood we've seen from Myanmar, but it's also possible it could be from Louisiana or Texas. Regardless it's a really nice round.
It comes with an acrylic display stand.

Petrified palmwood includes a group of fossil woods that contain rod-like structures within the regular grain of the silicified or agatized wood. Depending upon the angle at which they are cut, these structures show up as spots, tapering rods, or continuous lines. The rod-like structures are sclerenchyma bundles that comprise part of the woody tissues that gave the wood its vertical strength.
