9.5" Fossil Tortoise (Testudo) Shell - South Dakota
This is a nice, 9.5" long tortoise (Testudo thomsoni) shell (carapace and plastron) from the White River Formation in South Dakota. This is the rarer of the two genera of fossil tortoise found in the White River Formation, the other being Stylemys.
Comes with an acrylic-metal display stand.
There is some crushing of the carapace and slight disarticulation of the plastron. There are some repairs around the marginal scutes and a spot of gap fill restoration that makes up approximately 3-5% of the shell.
