.88" Cretaceous Fossil Turtle (Toxochelys) Flipper Bone - Kansas
This is a .88" late Cretaceous aged fossil skull bone of a marine turtle (Toxochelys sp.). It was found in the Smoky Hill Chalk of the Niobrara Formation in Kansas, a very fossiliferous marine formation. This is a phalanx bone, one of the "fingers" that would make up the flipper of the turtle when it was alive.
