8.5" Hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus) Caudal Vertebra w/ Stand - Wyoming
This is an exceptionally well preserved, 8.5" tall caudal vertebra of a hadrosaur (Edmontosaurus annectens), collected from our partner's lease on the Lance (Creek) Formation in Wyoming. The bone preservation is excellent, with interesting coloration and a stunning spinous process with very little repair. You don't see vertebra of this quality often.
Comes with the pictured custom metal display stand.
The unique coloration of the process can likely be attributed to natural sun bleaching. There are four repaired cracks through the spinous process with minimal gap fill restoration. Most of the gap fill restoration can be found on the centrum within repaired cracks. The prezygapophyses are natural have been reattached following collection.

Hadrosaurs
are frequently referred to as duck-billed dinosaurs and are members of the Ornithischian family Hadrosauridae. They were fairly common herbivores that roamed Asia, Europe, and North America during the Upper Cretaceous Period. Many species of Hadrosaurs had distinctive crests on their heads, some of which had air-filled chambers that may have produced a distinct sound. These crests may have been used for both audio and visual display purposes.
