8.4" Miocene Fossil Crab (Tumidocarcinus) - New Zealand
This is a giant, 8.4" wide, fossil crab (Tumidocarcinus giganteus) from New Zealand. It was found in a very hard concretion that was split open and then professionally prepared to further expose the carapace, legs and one claw. These crabs are getting hard to come by and take dozens of hours of preparation time due to the hardness of the rock. The preparation on this piece is quite nice.
